About Kip Keino Classic
On the 23rd of November, 2019, World Athletics announced the launch of a series of the world’s best one-day meetings outside the Diamond League. The World Athletics Continental Tour is a series on meetings divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze classifications, with the quality of competition and prize money on offer dictating such classification. Nairobi has been awarded Gold label classification with the Kenyan tour stop named the ‘Kip Keino Classic’ after Kenya’s trail-blazing Olympian, Kipchoge Keino. The 2020 edition of the Kip Keino Classic will be held on the 3rd of October at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium (1,700 metres above sea level).
